What You Can Expect

As a CyberWorks candidate, you can expect the following as part of your experience:

  • Screening and Eligibility Process,
  • Completion of Participant Paperwork,
  • A mandatory Two-Week Sprint that includes job readiness, industry awareness, Workplace Excellence training, and foundational cyber skills defined by the business partners,
  • Attend a Candidate Convention and meet participating businesses,
  • Case Management and Supportive Services,
  • Networking and mentorship from business partners,
  • Brown Bag lunch series to enhance your skills in the industry,
  • A 3-12 month paid or unpaid "apprenticeship"-like work experience.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to become a CyberWorks candidates, you must meet the following basic requirements:

  • Be a Maryland resident; and
  • Meet one of the following criteria

                 1. Have a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field,

                 2. Hold a minimum certification level of Network +, or

                 3. Be a veteran with related experience.

Depending on the volume of candidates and business fit, additional criteria may apply.

The CyberWorks model is intended to support candidates in entering the high-growth field of cybersecurity and IT. The model fills the gap between individuals who have received the requisite training in the industry, but have difficulty entering the field due to lack of experience.

CyberWorks has a special interest in ensuring veteran, minority and non-traditional candidates are well-represented in the candidate pool.
